Creative Commons, GNU or GPL are models of licenses that the authors can adopt instead of establishing just one model in particular, to determine what rights of their work are released or are reserved.
As the author you have personal and patrimonial rights over your work and you may opt for one of these options or any other valid option, defining how these rights are dealt with. The author will always have to prove that he is the author, to be able to make use of these rights, or to avoid copyright infringement by others.
